Cheryl is responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of all Ingenix Provider Solutions Group products with a hospital coding focus. She brings to Ingenix more than two decades of experience in implementing and managing utilization, quality assurance and health information coding systems.
Prior to joining Ingenix, D’Amato served as Manager, Coding Services, Medical Records & Ambulatory Review at the Connecticut Peer Review Organization (CPRO). In this capacity, she was responsible for the DRG/CPT validation program and ambulatory surgery review for 34 acute-care hospitals and 12 ambulatory surgery centers. She also held the position of Quality Assurance Coordinator at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, where she developed and managed the hospital-wide Quality Assurance Program. Prior to this position, she also served as a Coding Specialist and in Utilization Review, where she developed the Medical Audit Program.
Cheryl has bylined articles for numerous industry publications. She currently co-authors the well-read CCS-Prep! column in Advance for Health Information Professionals. In addition, she has conducted presentations on coding, medical necessity, OPPS and compliance at over 40 industry seminars and conferences including the AHIMA National Convention.
Cheryl maintains many professional affiliations. She is currently a member of AHIMA’s Clinical Classification Practice Council and Coding Community Council., and has served as a member of the CCS-P Job Analysis Task Force and Coding Policy and Strategy Committee. She has also held several high-ranking positions on the Board of the AHIMA’s Society for Clinical Coding (SCC), including Director and Chair-Elect. She also is a member of CHIMA (Connecticut Health Information Management Association), from which she has not only received the Distinguished Member Award, but has served as President and Delegate along with numerous other positions.
